ZELDAVINE

was born from the nostalgia of trying heels on in your mothers closet, stealing your older sisters shirt, borrowing your grandmas pearl necklace, red lipstick stains on a wine glass, and being the best dressed woman in the mirror.

The name is inspired by the trailblazer, Zelda Fitzgerald, who was a lot of things, but boring was not one of them. She was intelligent, charming, a writer, painter, drinker, dancer, and fashion trendsetter. It’s not a mystery why her vivacious nature has echoed through generations of women. We chose to honor her talents and beauty through a vintage clothing line. And our shop dog, Zelda the blue heeler.

Why Vintage?

Clothing from yesteryear was purchased less frequently, so garments were made to last. While there are trendy items with every season, the classic pieces just recycle over and over. Here at ZV we believe that you feel your best when you look your best. If to you that means messy hair and bright lipstick, or jeans and a vintage T-shirt, we’ve got it. Because, if you can wear clothes that boost your confidence, don’t tug at the purse-strings or leave a mark on the environment, then why wouldn’t we all shop vintage?

About the owner: Jennifer

I spent my childhood swimming through aisles of antique stores with my mom, lounging in used bookstores and sneezing, dusting off old vinyl before I even had a record player, saving caterpillars on the sidewalk from pesky bikes, stealing my aunt’s lipstick, wearing rings on every finger because I could never decide which one, making up songs that my dolls would sing, and learning Italian so maybe one day I could work in the fashion world. Not a lot has changed, except now I write songs for myself while my cats dutifully listen.

I knew I didn’t want to be a designer or a buyer for a big fancy brand, but I loved clothing and how it could make people feel; enhancing your style to be simple and classic, to feel totally like yourself. As the years passed and my thrift store and estate sale obsessions continued, I found myself collecting simple and ornate vintage clothing, ones that weren’t even my size, taking up rent in my closet.

Fast-forward 15 years and half my closet was made up of beautiful clothes meant for someone else.

I didn’t realize, that all this time, I was collecting those clothes for you.

XO Jennifer
